Sheer Curtains

(Random Old Poem of the Day)
10-30-02

The gravity of this evening
Has poured down upon me like a stiff drink
And I weep from the misery of foolish mistakes.

Like a child,
I cannot resist your persuasion.
And like a woman,
Lost in shadows,
The twinkle in your eyes is enough
To forgive and forget,
Regardless of blame.

The curtain sheer...
The color pink.
The abandonment of love for the lust of life.

But I cannot rely on your eyes
For the protection I deserve,
If there is nothing more than what you imply.

I cannot die,
For the pressure
Of your heart against mine.
